James H. Leeland

Mr. Leeland was born in Pottsville, Pennsylvania, on January 14, 1950.  He was admitted to the State Bar of Texas in 1977.  He is also admitted to practice before several U.S. District Courts in the State of Texas, as well as the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and the U.S. Supreme Court.  Mr. Leeland graduated from South Texas College of Law in 1977, with honors, and was a member of the South Texas Law Journal and the Order of Lytae.

For over 30 years, Mr. Leeland has represented a variety of clients in commercial and real estate litigation, both in trial and on appeal.  He has successfully handled appeals before the Supreme Court of Texas, several Texas Courts of Appeals, and the U.S. Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He has represented financial institutions, real estate and construction firms, oil and gas companies, home owners associations, and other corporate and commercial interests.

Mr. Leeland is also a trained mediator, having attended the first mediation training class in Harris County, Texas, in 1980.  He is a Charter Mediator with the Houston Neighborhood Justice Center (now the Dispute Resolution Center), sponsored by the Houston Bar Association.

Mr. Leeland has given seminars before the American Bankers' Association, financial institutions, real estate brokers' associations, the Texas College of Trial Advocacy, and the State Bar of Texas. 

Mr. Leeland also served for many years as an Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 1836, and he is currently serving the Troop as a merit badge counselor and Troop Committee Member.
